Frequently Asked Questions

What does it take to set up Drop-ChIP?

Currently, to use Drop-ChIP, you need to fabricate microfluidic devices and operate them using a microscope, syringe pumps and a voltage generator. Weitzlab is always happy to assist you with setting up. Hopefully, in the future, both the barcodes and the devices will be commercially available.

What is the cost of Drop-ChIP?

Assuming an existing microfluidic set up (currently between 10k$-100k$ depending on microscope and cameras), we estimate Drop-ChIP to cost ~1$ per cell. since the barcode library is sufficient for many runs, the cost is dominated by that of sequencing, when each hiseq run can accomodate ~30 samples = 3000 cells.
